Sabará Group starts 2016 with a new identity, after overcoming the restructuring challenge that marked the end of the last triennium. Changes were made during this period, guided by the need of a composition that allows a steady growth and the evolution of our activities. The foundation of our business is value enhancement for our clients through sustainability and innovation. In order to grow in this model, we need to meet the increasing demands of the market providing cutting-edge technology along the processes, be it internally or with the support of solid partners. It was in this context that we redesigned the Group, consolidating our businesses units.
The diversification of segments of activities that characterizes our history is the Group’s sustaining strength. However, from now on each business uniti is given its own name. For the Health and Personal Care segment, the name Beraca was maintained, while the sugarcane and ethanol sector, the beverage industry and the energy segment were named BioE Integrated Solutions; for the industrial water treatment and sanitation market, the name is now Sabará Químicos e Ingredientes; the food industry, animal nutrition and veterinary pharmaceuticals segment was named Concepta Ingredients.
We invested in research and innovation, and we celebrated the success of this strategy with the development of Diox® in the biennium 2011-2012. The product substitutes the use of antibiotics in the fermentation process and have been attracting the interest of the sugarcane and ethanol industry, allowing the creation of the BioE business unit, dedicated to this market. Moreover, we established partnerships with universities in order to investigate and measure the benefits created by sustainable-based business, contributing for the future of this market.
Sustainability remains as the transversal guide of our Group management. We dedicate the strength of our business to the transformation of the world. We assumed a pro-active posture in the conservation of genetic resources, biodiversity and water, and we shared our experience in sanitation and water conservation in the Movimento pela Redução das Perdas de Água na Distribuição (“Movement for the Reduction of Water Losses in the Distribution”), in the Global Compact and at international conferences such as the COP12, in South Korea, participating on debates about biodiversity and corporate sustainability.
For us in the Sabará Group, the value creation based on sustainable practices and principles generates businesses that benefit all the people involved, and in the end of the chain also benefit the entire society. We keep supporting the Global Compact actions, guiding ourselves in their activities to strengthen the Ten Principles and Sustainable Development Goals on a daily basis, in addition to a number of activities that are aligned to our guidelines and expectations of a better future.
Value creation to the customer using sustainability and innovation is the base of our business
Without losing sight of our values, and based on them, we have been growing for more than a decade by an average rate of 14% every year. Since 2012, we grew more than 30% in three years. Those results allow us to set the goal of doubling our size during the next five years, and in addition to what we are reporting in this document, they give us the confidence to believe in sustainability as an essential path to future businesses.
